Recent findings from our Annual Skills Needs Survey and Industry Skills Roundtables
In 2009, SkillsHub identified the global economic downturn as the key challenge facing the cultural and recreation sectors followed by technological advancements, environmental sustainability and regulation. Other key issues highlighted in the report were as follows:
- The cultural and recreation sectors enjoy a symbolic relationship with many other sectors, including tourism and manufacturing. There may be negative flow on effect from a downturn in the economy.
- Government policies in response to the economy, the environment, health and vocational education and training are expected to influence skills and workforce development in the culture and recreation sector's in 2009.
Research approach
To compile the report, SkillsHub interviewed numerous industry experts and conducted a series of industry roundtables to assist in validating research.
